Trump’s FBI seizure of voting data from the Fulton County election office is not about the 2020 election, it’s about the midterms this year, and beyond. The resistance has started in earnest in Minneapolis, but it must be carried on far beyond the borders of Minnesota — Trump and Co will make that absolutely necessary.
I’m sure the Boss probably doesn’t care, but he may have to watch his back after this – he may just be ICE’s next target, speaking (singing) out so publicly against them.
I never really was a big Springsteen fan back in the day, but I got huge respect for this video .

When I saw the title I was afraid Bruce had pulled an Elton and just changed the lyrics to his “Streets of Philadelphia”, a song about AIDS. Nope, he gave us a classic blues-rock number worth listening to regardless of the lyrics. It pulls no punches.

There’s a little punk sneering involved too. When he made the “Nebraska” album, Springsteen was listening to a lot of punk music, and the music is so stripped down because he was filtering the punk sound he was listening to through Americana. And so many of the narratives of that album share punk’s frustration, anger, and rebellion, once again filtered through Americana. On this song, he is including a lot more sneering than he has for a long time, probably more than he ever has. Minor bit of trivia. Max Weinberg was the drummer for the E street band (yes that coat and tie wearing Max Weinberg from Late Night with Conan O’Brien).
As another aside, every notice that the drummer in rock bands is either the most straight-laced, coat-and-tie, family member of the group (think Charlie Watts) or the violent supernova, burning the candle at boths ends, etc. (think Keith Moon or John Bonham). Hardly anything in between.

The arrest of four journalists, including Don Lemon, on charges that the government know won’t pass muster before a judge or jury, is intended to scare the hell out of other journalist and shut them up. That is its sole purpose. This is a page straight out of the fascist playbook, and every journalist, along with every American citizen, should be outraged by it, even if you vehemently disagree with the protest at City Church. This is Putin-esque
