What is the mainstream Christian media? TBN? I honestly pay little attention to such, and never really have, but I am curious as to what you are classifying as “mainstream Christian media”.

Nonnie is a great freind and a true blessing. Hope you have a great one, Nonnie!

“2. Christianity isn’t about transforming human kingdoms into “godly” ones, it’s about ushering in the kingdom of God. We are here to speak truth to power, not acquire it.”

AMEN, AMEN, AMEN yes, i’m shouting 🙂

now i’ll go finish reading the rest of what Michael is thinking this a.m.

  3. Michael says:

World News Daily, The Christian Post, etc…are completely advertiser driven and won’t touch anything that even looks like investigative reporting or criticism of figures who may buy advertising, or that may upset the sensibilities of the investigated ones fans.

  4. Em says:

Happy, happy birthday to Nonnie – thank God for her

  5. Josh the Baptist says:

Yeah, I’ve been OK never reading those publications, and will continue on that path. I occasionally read an article from Christianity today. They typically have decent writing, at least.

I’m not sure that I want a “Christian Press” investigating and going after Christian figures. That sounds more like the Christian Ghetto concept to me.

#3. I live where the big television ministries reside (TBN, Daystar, Etc.) and would gladly help pack them up and ship them to Nevada.

Wonderful – We dodged the Shemitah bullet — but Harold Campings’ followers just published a new date to worry about-

  8. Michael says:

Thanks for the heads up…more insanity.

  9. Tim - Doulos says:

I forced myself to watch that video. What utter nonsense & misuse of the Scripture. I’ve got to ask, what was even the point of them producing it? If they believe no one was saved past May 2011, then what’s the point of warning people now of judgment? It’d be too late to repent and believe anyway?

Logic doesn’t seem to be their strong suit.

  10. Michael says:

    Tim,

A happy birthday wish to you as well…

  11. Tim - Doulos says:

Interestingly enough, we just hosted our 1st prophecy conference this past weekend. (No, in our original planning, we had no idea it was the weekend of the “shemitah.” Funny how the timing worked out.) We specifically kept things based on the Bible & told our people it was NOT a pin-the-tail-on-the-antichrist kind of conference. Just the Bible…no sensationalism.

It was a full house, people were blessed, and even one person was saved. 🙂

  12. Tim - Doulos says:

    Thanks, Michael! It’s a beautiful day here…wonderful weather for my 43rd. 🙂

  13. charles says:

What does Jack Van Impe have to say about the blood red moon?

End time radicals want to know!

  14. Em says:

i still don’t know what shemitah is, but from the article linked to the word, we’ve got 2 more weeks of imminent catastrophes – is that all? just 2 weeks?

it may be that there are planetary alignments that coincide with God’s plan of history, but i don’t see anyone, but Him knowing the what or why of it
common sense does tell us that the world is in upheaval, but don’t be a victim of the hucksters… i wonder how many folk, who’ve lost their homes to the catastrophic wildfires in the last 2 years had those homes stocked up for “survival?’ 🙂

(praying still for the folks in the hills of California)

  15. EricL says:

I hear that they will replace Shemitah with Curlitah as a way to continue the act… oh wait, I’m getting confused with another routine. I can be such a stooge at times.

  16. OCDan says:

Michael on you #8, what happens if that date is wrong?

Is the next one after 10/7 the very very very very, so-help me you -know-what, this is it, cross my heart, hope to die, pinky promise, last day.

If Christians were so easily fleeced, this whole thing would be hilarious. As it is, it is just plain sad that people get worked up over this.

Then again, we wonder why these things happen and so many don’t know the Bible. This is what happens when you spend your time watching and listening to John Hagee and his kind and not reading your Bible enough. Priorities people.

Then again, many would say how many times can I read that book? How many times do I have to read about Noah, Jonah, the Gospels? I want something new, shiny, and exciting. “How many times do I have to read the Bible? It is the same thing over and over again.” Well, maybe as many as it takes to actually walk on water.

  17. OCDan says:

Meant to say, weren’t so easily fleeced.

  18. Dan from Georgia says:

    October 7th now huh?….

I have a co-worker who obsesses over when Jesus is returning, to the point of ignoring JESUS’ OWN WORDS of “no one knows the day or the hour except the father”…she calls it Catholic teaching…of course she’s anti-catholic…

  19. The Dude says:

Just finished looking up what the shemita is all about over a cold beer.A cold imported ale and science fiction go well together.

  20. Jim says:

Interesting that Charisma is still selling multi-year subscriptions, including 40 issues for $40.

  21. Jim says:

In other words, put your money where your mouth is and publish your “Last Issue Ever!”.

  22. Eric says:

There was a piece on iMonk some years ago that went along these lines. In the Roman Catholic world, there is a hierarchy that everything falls under. In the evangelical world, however, there’s no pope or Vatican who speaks for all of us. Instead, we have a proliferation of writers, recording artists, media companies, celebrities and ministries, all serving Christ and/or their business, not necessarily answerable to anyone, striving for prominence. There’s no recognised authority to pull anyone into line.

  23. Dan from Georgia says:

    Amen to #6, #7, and #8!!!!

  24. brian says:

Happy birthday Nonnie, manny blessings to you and yours.

I deleted the rest of my rant, it felt good to type it, it felt better deleting it.

  25. JR says:

I heard a rumor once that CC had paid for its web servers 7 years in advance, so that when the ‘rapture’ happened, people who were ‘wondering what had happened’ could read all the prophecy stuff and tons of people would get saved. This was straight up serious, from a source that was highly placed at the time.

When you say a great shaking is coming you have a good shot…

How many great shakings can you name just in your lifetime?

  27. SJ says:

Was listening to a late night AM radio conspiracy show the other night for entertainment. Sometimes there are legit guests. Anyway, the pastor from El Shaddai Ministries was on.

Evidently there is one last blood moon of four (in a row) and it’s supposed to be the bigger one (like 20-30%). I guess it is rare to see this eclipse type in Israel. They are taking group of 300 to the Mount of Olives for viewing at 5 am during the next eclipse. And of course it falls on a Jewish calendar holiday ;). Interesting if anything.

  28. JTK says:

If you don’t have someone close enough in your life in the local church that at SOME POINT will say something about you either not loving your enemy or you causing division, you are in a horrible position in life. And church discipline is a life-saver….hopefully will at least take the form of a vocal, concerned friend.

  29. Andrew says:

Church discipline makes no sense without official church membership.

  30. Nonnie says:

I had a lovely birthday in Cornwall with my beloved. Lots of walking and naps!! Even FaceTime with the grandchildren. Thank you for the birthday wishes!

  31. Jonnyb says:

A lot of us exist outside of the church because of mistreatment.

These wounded individuals have retreated to their caves.

Phoenix Preacher and a few other places on the net are a lifeline to them.
Being a rare opportunity to reach out to these wounded.

Was just thinking on this when the word discipline appeared.

    Andrew is correct.
