Trump’s Easter Message
The White House released its message for Easter week:
“This Holy Week, Melania and I join in prayer with Christians celebrating the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ—the living Son of God who conquered death, freed us from sin, and unlocked the gates of Heaven for all of humanity.
Beginning with Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and culminating in the Paschal Triduum, which begins on Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, followed by Good Friday, and reaching its pinnacle in the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night. This week is a time of reflection for Christians to memorialize Jesus’ crucifixion—and to prepare their hearts, minds, and souls for His miraculous Resurrection from the dead.
During this sacred week, we acknowledge that the glory of Easter Sunday cannot come without the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on the cross. In His final hours on Earth, Christ willingly endured excruciating pain, torture, and execution on the cross out of a deep and abiding love for all His creation. Through His suffering, we have redemption. Through His death, we are forgiven of our sins. Through His Resurrection, we have hope of eternal life. On Easter morning, the stone is rolled away, the tomb is empty, and light prevails over darkness—signaling that death does not have the final word.
This Holy Week, my Administration renews its promise to defend the Christian faith in our schools, military, workplaces, hospitals, and halls of government. We will never waver in safeguarding the right to religious liberty, upholding the dignity of life, and protecting God in our public square.
As we focus on Christ’s redeeming sacrifice, we look to His love, humility, and obedience—even in life’s most difficult and uncertain moments. This week, we pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon our beloved Nation. We pray that America will remain a beacon of faith, hope, and freedom for the entire world, and we pray to achieve a future that reflects the truth, beauty, and goodness of Christ’s eternal kingdom in Heaven.
May God bless you and your family during this special time of year and may He continue to bless the United States of America.”
This sounds like it was written by someone in recent Catholic convert J.D. Vance’s orbit, as it has a Roman flavor.
John the Baptist spoke my response to this message:
““You brood of snakes!” he exclaimed. “Who warned you to flee the coming wrath? Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.”
(Matthew 3:7-8 NLT-SE)
I am not interested in holiday messages about Christ from someone who is waging war against “the least of these” that Jesus came to save.
““But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
“Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’
“Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’
“And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’
“And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.””
(Matthew 25:31-46 NLT-SE)
You prove your repentance by your works…whether a peon or a president…
Make your own application…

🤮
Well, there is that part of me that feels pleasure that our president would write such truth; however, there is the critical side that believes he couldn’t spell some of those words or even understand what they mean. I know I will most likely be ripped apart for these words, but his words without action are meaningless. As I have said, I have been voting for presidents since 1968. Never have I witnessed such an abuse of power. Never have I seen such hatred directed towards those who hurt.
Bob,
You won’t get ripped here…I concur with your observations…and I have the off button… 🙂
The long-eared demon next to the President in the photo says it all.
I’m going to go out on a limb and assume neither the president nor Melania ever even read this. Paschal triduum? That wouldn’t have survived editing.
No way he wrote it. No way he believes it. No way he gets credit for its content or sentiment. Not even a thoughtful gesture.
‘Paschal triduum”… I laughed out loud…all his evangelical supporters are wondering what the hell that is…
Bogus.
This coming from a guy who proudly stated he never needed forgiveness because in his mind nothing he did required it. Of course back then, perhaps he was a baby Christian like Cthulhu (from a Babylon Bee gem before it jumped the shark):

I share this with great trepidation. In my personal experience in the Church, especially the corporate side of many franchises, management saw stories such as rank emotionalism. Which is more damnable than false doctrine or murder? It is close to the sin of showing grief. I wish I were being sarcastic.
Anyway, there was this student I worked with many decades ago, who was a young man with a mild developmental disability. His name was Mark.
He loved to go to junior college, and he loved to take care of his grandmother. From all the stories I heard and read about him, he was kind and lived out the beatitudes in his sphere. He was struck down with a massive seizure, which profoundly damaged his brain and his autonomic nervous system. This lead to constant spastic movements in his extremities. For example, his hands would contract so badly that he was clawing into his skin down to almost the bone. He wore a type of grip splint to keep his hands apart. He could not eat, so he was fed through a gastrostomy tube. His temperature and heart rate would go way up and down. Causing him to have the chills one moment and sweat profusely the next. The worst was the constant, unrelenting pain, it never ended, and the fact that he was fully cognizant of what was happening to him.
I worked with him on a daily basis and became deeply attracted to his bravery and determination when he would try to just say one word or give you eye contact etc. So to my shame I brought him up for prayer among the faith community one time which was five billion times to many. I was told it was for the glory of God, or God showing His eternal wrath, or that Mark was demon possessed. Some, though not as much as the demon concept, he was faking it to get government funding. If one does not work, let them not eat was often quoted.
At one discussion, when I was saying maybe when Mark goes to heaven, God will restore his health and allow him to experience joy deeper as a way to “make up” for or restore what Mark endured here on Earth. Now I was rebuked for that stupid “Catholic” ™ superstition. Then I was regaled with all sorts of outer space nonsense about the return of King Jesus, blood up to the bridle of the white horse, and the sword coming from His mouth, wreaking vengeance on all that don’t know Him. Then there were the souls of the lost being raised with brand new eternal bodies, about thirty years old, with perfect physical form, so they can experience the torments of hell for eternity. When I pathetically asked why God could not heal Mark and others right now. I was exhorted not to tempt the Lord your God. Now these were the same folks who would pray for parking spots and lost keys, and being cut off, leaving church was demonic oppression or persecution.
Eventually, Mark died. I still remember touching the outside of the body bag while the coroner was leaving the elevator. I remember saying goodbye, and I’m sorry. I still am sorry I could not do more. Another of my many vile emotionalist tripe, or at least that is what I am told.
Brian,
It is because of asshole “Christians” like is a big reason (among others) that I walked away from the faith and have become very much atheist, if not an anti-theist. They really are a blight and cancer on society. One has to wonder if this God really gives a shit that his so-called followers’ words and behaviors are driving people AWAY from Him. You think he would get off of his ass and do something about it.
“You think he would get off of his ass and do something about it.’
This week is all about what He did.
He came, He suffered as one of us, He died for all of us and the creation.
We (and all He made) will be redeemed by what He did.
No one fully understands the problem of evil, but no one who has read the Scriptures can say that they were lied to about the state of humanity.
I believe in the promise of His return and I believe He will make all things right when He does.
No one here has seen the depth of filth that I have over the ;last 30 years…I have witnessed and lived the worst the American church can be…but my faith has never been stronger or clearer.
I will admit I struggle with why God does not seem to intervene the way I wish God would. I have always counted that a personal, spiritual, and human failing on my part. It is more along the line where fellow humans seem to be able to have God all figured out. I often read John Six, especially where Peter says Where else can we go? Who else has the words of eternal life, loose quote. I always saw God meet us in the mundane, the simple, in water, bread, wine, and most of all in Christ Jesus. I think I hold onto faith or God keeps me in the faith, or both, because I still hope for life. Not really for myself, but for those I love and those I have seen endure so much yet still smile.
