It is also has been 100 years since the Armistice of WWI (on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918). Veteran’s Day was originally called Armistice Day .

Armistice Day… Yes, it started as a celebrationof the end of war… Celebrating our service people is right and proper – IMV – my husband’s remains rest in a military cemetery. He served.
That said, we need to pray that our military will come back from being used to police the world… that has been going on since the Korean action by Harry Truman. I’m sure he never dreamed that he’d set a precedent so ineffectual and costly.
May God bless with grace and mercy the families who are serving now. A good soldier deserves a good government

… or so it seems to me … sigh

It has become the day I most remember my dad, who was a WW2 Army Air Corps pilot and a retired USAF Lt. Col.

JD, WW2 pilots were brave to say the least – back then the planes didn’t fly themselves… My uncle who just passed away at 103 years of age was a pilot who was turned down when he enlisted because he was employed in a critical position in the aircraft industry, so he joined the Civil Air Patrol and flew at night patrolling the Pacific Coast in his Piper Cub during that war.
If your dad trained at Luke Field, he was trained by a man named Robert B Thieme, later Pastor R B Thieme, whose ministry focused on the military approach to training in the Faith… not too many Chrustians’ cup of tea, but his teaching style grounded my family in The Faith?
