    Great article, Michael!

“His is the only name that should matter…and we should be thrilled that we’ve been asked to play a part in the great work He’s doing…whether anyone recognizes us or not.”

Reminds me of this line from the song, “Nobody but Jesus,” by Casting Crowns:

“I’m just a nobody, trying to tell everybody, all about somebody, who saved my soul.”

    This is very cool.

And I love the spiritual lesson here!

Good article and application Michael! Session players are the unheralded driving force in ALOT of music out there, and 99% of them are NOT household names. Also the most gifted musically also!

I too love looking at the liner notes of most of my albums/CD/downloads to see what names are involved in the project. I confess I have never heard of Pig Robbins, so this was a very interesting article to read for more than one reason!

Thanks so much for this message — as a musician and former worship leader, I really appreciate hearing this.

I watched a documentary on Steely Dan. Both Donald Fagan and Michael Becker were so particular in their recordings that Fagan didn’t always play the guitar. Instead hey brought in other session players.

Then of course there was The Wrecking Crew with Hal Blaine

    Some recommended films that relate:

    ’20 Feet from Stardom’
    ‘Muscle Shoals’
    ‘The Wrecking Crew’ (mentioned above)
‘Standing in the Shadows of Motown’

Great session players are national treasures…
