I recall a sympathy card that went something like this….
You cannot say, you must not say that he is gone
He is just away
With a cheery smile and a wave of his hand, he has crossed to the promised land
And left us dreaming how very fair it must needs be since he is there…..
Thank God for His promises that give us our sure hope…..
Praying, Michael… God keep you close in Faith and His comfort
I can’t even begin to tell you the influence Packer’s “Knowing God,” has made in my life. I re-read the book throughout the year, and I recommend it to everyone who can take a Biblical study like no other. Farewell, brother. You fought the good fight. You kept the faith.
I am stunned too. J.I. Packer was one of my favorite authors and one of the handful of theologians/pastors who I read that was still alive. Most of the guys I read have been dead for 100 years or more. But now Packer sees Him face to face and now Knows God far more than he ever could on this earth.
He stood on the shoulders of giants and now with them he rests from his labours. I had the privilege of meeting him at a conference and we shared breakfast together. A truly humble and gracious man.

I’m very sorry, Michael.
I grieve for your loss. One of the greats. Rest Eternal grant unto him and may light perpetual shine upon him…

Mike E.,
Agreed.
I am so sorry Michael, I know he was like a father to you, may his memory be blessed…

It seems like the giants pass away in groups.
Congressman John Lewis also passed away yesterday.
Thank you all for the kind words.
