Thanks for posting this. It’s Michael Glen Bell doing vocals and guitar, me doubling Michael’s lead vocals, and Phil Keaggy doing guitar and vocals. Engineered by Thom Daugherty (formerly lead guitarist with The Elms and The Band Perry).
“Death is destroyed, Christ our God is Arisen,
He gives to the world great mercy…”
If your circumstances today made it hard to celebrate Easter, remember that the resurrection of Christ means that God defeated death…and defeated defeat. We are “more than conquerers” in Him, even if it seems that “victory” is impossible…in time and eternity, your battle is already won.
For those who didn’t have the strength to celebrate with the church today…know that all that He won on the cross is still yours…even if your faith is flickering and your heart is broken…especially if your faith is flickering and your heart is broken…there was and will be resurrection…
Much of our lives are lived as if they were one, long, Holy Saturday…the day when dreams and hope died. That anger, disappointment, and confusion doesn’t go away because we declare a holiday. “Happy Easter ” rings hollow…hang on…you will experience resurrection in all the dead places…because He did, you will too…
Religious holidays remind many that they are seen as being on the “fringes” of the faith…in Christ there are no “fringes”, no “marginal” children…you are in the center of His love no matter where you find yourself here…blessings to all of you on this Resurrection day…
This has been a meaningful Easter season for me. Reflecting and being reminded of the price Jesus paid for my sins and secured by his resurrection from the dead.
I was thinking this morning about the various feasts and holy days instituted by God through Moses in the O.T. Specifically how they lost there meaning and purpose over time and became nothing more (to many) than drudgery and meaningless ritual.
Phil used his sunburst Gibson Les Paul and his custom Olson acoustic; Michael used his natural Gibson J-200… It took several takes as we recorded Michael and Phil together on the acoustic track… Michael was slipping up every time he looked up and realized he was recording one on one with Phil! In the end he did a really fine job…
