Happy Thanksgiving!
The menu at the first Thanksgiving…
Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all that you have done for us. We thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love.
We thank you for the blessing of family and friends, and for the loving care which surrounds us on every side.
We thank you for setting us at tasks which demand our best efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy and delight us.
We thank you also for those disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone.
Above all, we thank you for your Son Jesus Christ; for the truth of his Word and the example of his life; for his steadfast obedience, by which he overcame temptation; for his dying, through which he overcame death; and for his rising to life again, in which we are raised to the life of your kingdom.
Grant us the gift of your Spirit, that we may know him and make him known; and through him, at all times and in all places, may give thanks to you in all things. Amen.

“We thank you for the blessing of family and friends…” Family for me has not always been a blessing. A part of my life has been spent keeping a healthy distance to maintain my own mental health. Thankfully, I now have flexible boundaries vs walls, and know where and when I need to keep a prayerful distance. I’ll have dinner with the healthier part of the family today, for which I am thankful!

Giod has blessed me with much chosen family, for which I am grateful. One side of my own family is going through a rough patch right now, but there’s nothing I can do and they are in another state. It’s their poor choices that cause the problems and it’s multigenerational. The only reason I haven’t ended up in the same place is that my first church “parented” me regarding better choices. I have always been thankful for them!! The side of the family in my town is healthier, and we will have a nice holiday.

Four hours of baby songs on YouTube and half a bagel is what works. I’m exhausted from assembly of a stroller and the crib.
Best Thanksgiving since the one where a homeless family was staying in our living room for a few weeks.
JD-30 years ago my mom and I fostered my twin niece and nephew for a number of years. They were 4, so no cribs or strollers, but lots to learn about bedtimes, kindergarten gossip, and the right hair ribbons! God bless you on this adventure!
