  1. Looks like a tiny spark of reality broke through the TGC whiteman haze.

The World is changing and Africans are increasing as a percentage of total population. This will be a hard pill for many to swallow.

  2. CM says:

Who knows? Maybe in 100 years, Africa will send missionaries to North America and Europe to evangelize the pagans there.

  3. African Christianity has an American Evangelical veneer. I think of it as a result of Americans financial influence. If it wasn’t for that, Africans would, and will, develope there own unique versions of the Faith vastly different from typical US tribes. Anything Apostolic = winner. Anything Reform = tough sell.

Cancel culture reaches Jim Wallis … deservedly?

  5. bob1 says:

I read the piece on Wallis…I wouldn’t call this an example of cancel culture. Sounds like there was an editorial disagreement with his staff, common in this line of work. Plus the piece strongly hinted that this was just the tip of the iceberg and folks were unhappy for a time, with his leadership. To call this an example of cancel culture, IMHO, is trying to make the facts fit a (false) narrative.

The story about the Chicago pastor is great. Thanks for the good read!

  7. EricL says:

JoelG, I totally agree with you. That is a great read. Love is proximal, indeed.

I’m glad Michael wanted more positive links, since we have enough negativity everywhere else.

  8. Portland is rioting and violence from 11PM to 4AM. Mostly white spoiled antifa babies who call black cops the n word. The mayor finally came out against violence after a driver, who was supposedly trying to rescue a transgender person, was mobbed, caused to crash, and then dragged out and beaten unconscious.

I talked to my buddy tonight who lives in Portland, a proud life long Oregonian. He said, “I no longer trust our mayor.” He and his wife are making plans to escape to central Oregon at some point. The 145 gunshots fired in a neighborhood near Mt. Tabor the other week was not far from their home.

  9. CM says:

    The New Victor,

One thing that is not mentioned is that some of these antifa babies are in fact white supremacists posing as antifa. Not too long ago, Twitter and Facebook suspended fake antifa accounts that were tied to the white supremacist group Identity Evropa. The Oakland Federal Protective Service cop that was killed in the early unrest was killed by a Boogaloo Boy.

Something to remember from history. The Reichstag fire was blamed on the Communists when in all likelihood it was one of Hitler’s people that started it.

  10. Michael says:

I don’t care who they are.
If I were mayor of Portland they would get one warning and the next night they could all identify as “patients” at the nearest local medical center.
I’m a native, life long, Oregonian and the rest of the state will not put up with that garbage.
When antifa came to visit here they found a welcoming committee waiting…

  11. CM says:

    Agreed 100%.

  12. Jim says:

Enough of my neighbors are ready for a visit to make it a party. I’ll stay home.

My daughter lives 15 minutes north of me where people own horses and shoot guns in their backyard ranges, and they won’t be calling the cops for help.

These “revolutionaries” need to stick to cities with friendly mayors.

  13. CM says:

Looks like John MacArthur may end up doing the perp walk real soon:

If the court is smart, they will issue one fine of $1,500 for every person that was there (and issue it to Grace Community Church), then issue 5 days jail for each person for John MacArthur to serve. Since he is OK with no masks in church, then I am sure he is OK with no masks and social distancing in a crowded jail.

Could not happen to a nicer person, IMO.

  14. If MacArthur actually went to jail that would be noteworthy considering the mass prison and jail releases here in Cali and the catch and release on the street for many crimes here now except for violent ones.

  15. CM says:

    Court Etiquette 101:

Do not piss off a judge.

By defying the trial and appeals court (which had worked out a compromise for him to have his church services inside as long as masks were worn and social distance rules applied), MacArthur has managed to piss off both.

  16. Linnea says:

Thank you, Eric and Michael, for sharing the story that love requires proximity. The story left me in tears. This is what commitment to and love of the Lord means…it made my day

  17. Jim Jacobson says:

I think the discussion regarding PPP is interesting. Pastors say a majority of taxpayer money went to payroll, but no one seems to ask the follow up… was giving down dramatically? Every pastor I have talked to has said that giving went down slightly, but not significantly. So the ppp was unnecessary. Meanwhile small businesses suffer.

  18. Em says:

Where is the Church in the BLM movement?
I ask why should the Church BE IN the BLM movement? Black lives have always mattered to the true Church ! To the triune God. !
