On a roll…three selections, three winners. Comic Case, A World Full of Signs, and Re-consecration of Man–each thoughtful and worth the read.

    Thanks, fil.

It’s hard to find content these days…we scored on a couple.

I skimmed through some of the articles and read a few more carefully. The last one on Taylor Swift was the best commentary I have read on her. I work with fourth and fifth graders who idolize her (although many of the lyrics are beyond their grasp). The kids in our junior high/high school adore her anything goes approach to life and how conventional norms don’t matter anymore. And then, there is living your life like you’re living in a Taylor Swift song, with your broken relationships, STDs, children you hadn’t planned on…It’s just the same old “you can have your sex any way you want it” that the devil has always been preaching, except the packaging is more exciting (until the next thing comes along). It’s a story as old as Sodom and Gommorah, and every bit as sad.

Linn, the high school my kids will go to has the initials MP. It’s colloquially known at the feeder middle school as Mount Pregnant. Somewhere between here and there enough kids don’t get it.

I like this quote from the Chesterton article:

“What I take from his example is a twin conviction: truth is worth fighting for and people are worth honoring.”
