Linkathon 4/7, part 1: Michael Spencer
Michael Spencer’s memorial service is at 2:30 p.m. ET this Saturday, at Oneida Baptist Institute’s Memorial Chapel in Oneida, Kentucky (Spencer was a long-time campus minister at the school).
Chaplain Mike, who’s been moderating Spencer’s Internet Monk website during his illness, posted an obituary Tuesday.
Associated Baptist Press also did an article on Spencer’s life and passing.

Michael’s website is, of course, the Internet Monk.
He is possibly best known for his series of posts entitled the Coming Evangelical Collapse, all of which can be found here.
One of Michael’s posts originally written in 2004, titled When I Am Weak: Why We Must Embrace Our Brokenness and Never Be Good Christians, is a particular favorite of mine.
He also began and ran the Boar’s Head Tavern in which he and other kindred and sometimes not-so-kindred spirits discussed the issues of the day.
His book, Mere Churchianity, is scheduled for release in September.
