Elizabeth Elliot link – too good to miss today
i’m reading and remembering what heroes those folk were to the whole nation at the time of the slaughter of the missionaries … i wish i had saved the secular magazine issues that covered the event …
Nate Saint’s sister and Jim Elliot’s widow exemplified what we thought a Christian woman should be … Elizabeth understood and promoted so much that has been lost in the noise and greed that is consuming us now … what a rebuke to the promotion of shallow spoiled celebrity Christianity
and by the way, i would have been humbled to receive communion with these saints
When Christians love theology more than people…
I believe there is a 3rd class of Christians. They love to study
doctrines, hermanutics more than spending time in deep loving communion with God in prayer & fellowship.
there is something wrong if your study of the Faith does not result in a maturing love of God and His people – perhaps, i should add to that, the reality of the final judgement facing us all …
from Christians loving theology line:
“Within Christendom, we’re often taught the exact opposite: that doctrines, traditions, theologies, and distinct beliefs are the only things that do matter. It’s what separates churches, denominations, theologians, and those who are “saved” and “unsaved.”
Phil Metzger’s article is very good. Thank you, Phil!
“God was a lot younger than I had expected…” made me smile. Good link.
The Joe Carter piece about pseudo-events was pretty interesting. It made a compelling and succinct case for what they were … but it reminded me that there should be a variant definition open for those who instigate pseudo-events, and a couple of guys who over the years contributed content to The Gospel Coalition can be considered instigators of pseudo-events.

Evangelicals may be hooked on pseudo-events and media outrage but some guys in the evangelical fold have been leaning on making them here and there.
Carl Truman’s observations are not airtight logic but they are pretty good. Imagine a 40 year old trans man who is just feeling himself going through his feminine puberty and wants to join the girl scouts. Or just a transgender who wants to lead the girl scouts even though she is a junkmale female.
