One Sunday In Salem Live
From Bob Bennett:
In September 2007, Roby Duke and I were invited by our dear mutual friend longtime Pastor Steve Hopkins to be part of a music- centric Sunday morning at Calvary Chapel Salem (Oregon).
As a matter of course, the Service was recorded but certainly never intended for “release” beyond the church website. Single channel, mono, no mixing beyond what went into and came out of the sound board all at the same time. It was a great memento of a really good morning to be a part of. Of course, it took on a whole new and deeper significance when we lost Roby on 12/26/07. A lot of time passed, we still dearly miss the man. And, at a certain point, Steve said. “Is this release-able? Can we do this?” With the insanely invaluable assistance of James A. Abdo (Jesus Music aficionados will correctly place him in the groundbreaking band Aslan and, later, Broken Works), the source material was improved as much as it could be … and, voila, here we are. Mostly, Steve and I hope it will be a great blessing to those who know of Roby and his singular body of work … and, if fortunate enough, especially for those who knew the man himself. I don’t want to overstate this, but working on this release with Steve felt a little bit like having a some precious extra time with our still-dearly-missed friend and fellow-traveler. We hope you’ll like it and, afresh, thank our gracious Lord for the gift that was/is Roby Duke.
It’s up now in all the usual streaming places: Spotify, Amazon, YouTube, Pandora, etc. Streaming only for now.
Thanks Michael!
Way to go Hoppy! Congrats on getting it out.
Thanks Josh
I’m going to a live FB broadcast tonight on Bob Bennett’s FB feed at 5 pm tonight (west coast time). Gonna talk a little about the record, and Roby Duke. I may even sing. Song or 2 with Bob.
