I spent about the last 14 hours reading about 5K plus pages of reports. I truly was moved by what those hit by the tornadoes over the last few days. I do not think we have reached the level of technical prowess to actually intervene in said weather phenomena. I actually was praying that God would grant me or whoever the ability to develop an ability to better predict these events on a micro level to give better warning times on a local level. I am personally leaning to a Satellite / ground doppler radar net in the high volume areas along with a more intense data mining response to develop better models to achieve more accurate prediction in conjunction with better construction / architectural developments.

Am I wrong in this, I mean God gave us a brain and we agree praying the tornado away basically does not work. It really never has. I mean no offense I really dont but this stuff guts me, if I had the power to stop such events I would, hands down and I could care less what sins those in the path had committed. I would not allow them to be hurt. I am not God, I lack His eternal perspective, But I dont get it. I know I have begged God on many occasions as people suffered. We all have. I come up with this God grants us insight in a local focus but hides the overall because if we saw it we would melt. I agree with that, so within the framework we have, is it wrong to pray for better ways to warn people concerning such weather events. I think it is not wrong. There is no good news in events, people just get killed in the path of such weather events. There is no wrath here, it is just what happens in a fallen world, I can live and even die with that. If someone can help me I would appreciate it.

Derek I hope your sister gets better, I dont have much but if she needs some spending money I can come up with about 100 bucks. Of course I will pray but sometimes people need money, please dont take any offense but if she needs some help please act. I hope she is healed right here and now. Basically Derek I just want to help. Dont be afraid to ask.

Praying even now for your sister

Why do you doubt so? Yes, God gave us a brain to use for the good of ourselves and towards others to His glory …
to maintain good works, meet urgent needs, these things are good and profitable to men… ( Titus 3:8/14)

We are to have a fervent love one for another
And minister to one another according to the gifts God has given us… ( 1 Peter 4:8/10)

And as we have opportunity; to do good to all~
Especially to those who are of the household of faith
    (Gal 6:10)
For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them… ( Ephesians 2:10)

    Sounds like, from what you describe you wish to do;
You desire to do a good work..
May God give you increase and richly bless you as you ponder ways to do good works and be a blessing to others

  11. As a general prayer, pray for people in the South in the paths of these tornadoes. One just hit Tupelo, MS and there is another near Starkville, MS right now. One passed north of my parent’s house yesterday. The good thing is that it was in pastures and farmlands.

Thanks, brian, but prayer would be best.
    Luckily she has insurance.
Also, her blood pressure is all over the place right now also.

***I would appreciate any prayers for my sister, Amy. She was admitted to a hospital yesterday for colitis. They are trying to diagnose the exact cause including possibly Crohn’s disease.***

Derek, my husband has ulcerative colitis. It was really bad for a while and he dropped down to a scary weight. He has had great success managing it with the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and is able to function normally without medication–it supposed works for Crohn’s also. At any rate, I wish her luck and hope she’s able to get her symptoms under control quickly. I’ve seen how bad those issues can be. 🙁

  16. Thanks all for praying for my sister.
She is still in the hospital being tested.
J2, I feel it is all going to come down to a diet for her probably.
Hopefully no meds, but she did mention some possibly.

  17. Dusty says:

Father God, do You hear? Can You hear the cries of Your children. We are broken and suffering. God, we are so lost without You, without Your Spirit to guide us.You are so holy and we so foul, yet You love us still enough to send Your only Son to atone for our sins. To turn our filthy rags into pure white garments. We don’t understand, we don’t comprehend, we don’t appreciate, all that You and Jesus have and are doing, yet You do it.

Bring healing to those who are ill, Amy, Cap. Kevin , Michael, Sarah, and others who have need.

bring employment to Michael and others who have need.

we have no right to ask, but You said come boldly before You, before Your throne. i do come boldly and expectantly to You that You will answer my prayer on behalf of my brothers and sisters….remember Your mercy Father, remember…..

  21. jlo says:

It’s been a tough day. One of the fires in SoCal was about 5 miles from my house. We are safe for now, but stressful none the less.

If I’m honest with myself, what bothers me most, those from my former church, who were as “close” as brothers and sister, didn’t reach out at all to see how I was fairing. Sigh.

  22. Sarah says:

jlo…praying for you tonight. That is tough…the fires are one thing, but the other feeling of loss is deeper. Praying for your safety, and for all impacted. Praying for your heart as well tonight.

I apologize I have not updated the prayer list…have been dealing with some health issues on this end. Will update in the morning. Praying for all tonight…

  23. Sarah says:

Scott…I cannot even fathom that pain. Praying for their family. Lord, have mercy tonight in that quiet house. Be near, in the silence, be near in the grief. Be the Comfort that we cannot even comprehend…be the One who can mourn with them. Lord…be gentle with them in their grief. Have mercy.

  24. Sarah says:

    Derek…praying for Amy as well.

Alright…off for the night, and will update the list in the morning 😉
