I spent part of the week building cat houses.
Not that kind…
We built little shelters all over the property for the strays so that they could “weather” the awful storm that had been predicted for our area.
The storm never really materialized, but the shelters were in use anyway.
I would have much preferred to invite everyone in, but they can’t get along , even quite literally to save their lives.
Miss Kitty is holding court again in my room as she richly deserves.
She doesn’t want to entertain company and left directions to the Red Cross for the other cats.
That left Smokey, Marcel, Cinnabun, and a bunch of recently abandoned cats to fend for themselves.
Thus, the need for cat houses with food and blankets.
I hated telling the others “you can’t come in”, but Missy gets too anxious when another cat is here.
I love them all, but they simply can’t all live together in peace.
They love me too…but not enough to retract claws from each other.
Now you know why God allowed denominations.
We claim to worship one God and God is love, but we can’t bear the thought that He loves people who don’t have the same understandings of Him that we do.
God thus condescends to allow us to find shelter in many places around His property.
He would prefer it if we could huddle together.
It’s safer that way.
We might find out we have more in common than not.
We may discover why God loves those other cats too.
Maybe that’s why we don’t do it…
Make your own application…
Good read, Michael… enjoyed it tonight
abandoning a pet seems difficult to understand… too embarrassed or cheap to take it to the shelter? We have a neighbor who “adopts” feral cats from the local shelter, feeds them, but leaves them outside to fend for themselves – which they can do quite well until they run into a coyote. He says, he’s letting nature take its course… what did you build your cat shelters out of, Michael?
it’s been a long time, though, since we have seen stray cats around here – i wonder if the time will come when folk will say, “it’s been a long time since we’ve seen a Christian around here?”
i’ve noticed that the twelve tribes were all somewhat different and God seemed to accommodate them all somewhat differently… maybe we do fall into categories even as Believers… raised in a household of people, not all relatives, i’ve always found people fascinating – even those who are “different” … well, i don’t do too well with mindless motormouths… smart ones, maybe… 🙂
it didn’t get above 10 degrees up here yesterday, but we also didn’t get hit with the predicted weather… thanking God for little snow and no wind – hoping it continues for Phoenix OR and for us further up north, too
God keep all close, warm and comforted this weekend… it’s an ice box out there
We had some large plastic containers that I have no idea what was originally in them. Put cardboard boxes, food, and a blanket in them and sprayed some cat pheromones in as well.
We already had one cat house out there that is actually heated.
Everyone seems to have come through it ok, but winter is here, and they’ll need these huts until spring.
People that abandon pets are the scum of the earth and usually are little better with humans.
I let out a wry chuckle over your comment about denominations…. probably would have been funnier if I hadn’t seen cat fights between Baptists and Lutherans…..
Reminds me of a cartoon I saw a long time ago – depicted a large church building, but with many doors. Each door had the name of a different denomination over it, but all into the same House.
Not sure how well that would go over…..
