The Idolatry of Evil Men

For those of you who are new here, this site made its mark in the world by exposing the sin and corruption in the church, particularly in evangelical circles.

People wonder why I haven’t addressed stories like this one.

I still get requests to do that sort of work…and my response is always the same.

I’ll help you…as long as you understand that church folks simply don’t care about such things.

Victims of spiritual abuse care…but their brothers and sisters consider them collateral damage to some greater good…the leaders they idolize are indispensable to the kingdom.

Biblical standards for leadership mean nothing to many of those who most fervently claim the Bible as their standard for truth.

In reality, the only kingdom these grifters are indispensable to are the ones they are creating for themselves.

Still, no matter what sin is exposed…the grifters still grift and live off the money of God’s people, willfully given.

The latest and most sordid example of this is the situation at Solid Rock at Market Common in South Carolina.

This “church” was run by a talking pile of rat excrement by the name of John-Paul Miller.

He is the “pastor’.

His wife allegedly died by suicide.

He informed the congregation of this at the end of a sermon, admonishing them to be quiet about it…“We’re not going to do altar call today,” Miller told the congregation. “Instead, I’m going to have you stand up and I’m going to make an announcement. And after the announcement I’m going to ask that you leave church quietly and don’t talk about the announcement here in the building.”

Only one narrative is allowed in these places…and it’s the leaders.

In the days that followed her death, Miller claimed his wife was mentally ill…a claim that (in my experience) about 75% of adulterous pastors make when they move from one wife to another.

We also learned that his wife had claimed he had abused and that Miller had posted a topless photo of her to social media to hurt her.

We also learned that Miller already has a new companion.

I’m shocked, I tell you…shocked.

Actually, I could have told you that before I knew much else…I think these vermin share a script.

The first wife of Mica Miller’s pastor husband accused him of committing sex acts with children under 16 and having an addiction to prostitutes in explosive divorce papers unearthed by DailyMail.com.

The church leadership insisted he get counseling…

Naturally, Miller has lawyered up and threatened to sue anyone who besmirches his good name.

He is, of course, the victim here.

He is still the “pastor” of this church.

Should he escape criminal liability, he probably will be in charge as long as he chooses to be.

Now…lets talk about what should have really happened here.

First, Miller has never been morally qualified to be in ministry.

This was almost certainly evident early in his “”work”.

When the first accusations against him were made, he should have been fired, the police should have been notified, the congregation should have been notified, and he should have been in fear of someone holy physically instructing him in righteousness.

“Touch not God’s anointed”…touch my child and you will meet Jesus in person…

Jesus said something about millstones, but they are not easily acquired these days.

I digress…

No follower of Jesus should ever consider entering that place…or supporting it in any way, form,or fashion…but they will.

So, again, if you have been a victim of spiritual abuse, I may help you tell your story…but nothing will change except you will be victimized again by the people you worshipped with when they support the abuser instead of you.

In too many places the church is addicted to the idolatry of evil men.

This is what should trouble you…you might be safer with the drag queens…

    Well said, Michael.

Absolutely tragic and disgusting truths, but well said.

In my part of the world, priests are fired for sending overly friendly emails to a female parishioner. No physical contact, nothing lurid, just too familiar. And rightly so, IMO. For this kind of thing to work you need a hierarchy. Bishops are biblical.

Some good news is that FBI is taking a look at Mica Miller’s death:

So it is possible this piece of excrement of a pastor may end doing the perp walk for Mica’s death (and who know what else). As an aside, South Carolina recently brought back both electrocution and firing squad (in addition to lethal injection) as means of administering capital punishment.

As an aside, is it wrong of me to offer blindfold color and material suggestions to the SC Department of Corrections?

    Thanks, Steven.

Had to get this one out of me…

    Xenia,

I’m not sure the system matters.
Bishops have failed the Roman Catholic and Anglican communities.

What would solve the problem is emptying the pews and the church bank accounts.

    Michael,
What I find even more concerning is how many people will stay with a church and pastor even after it has been confirmed fairly accurately that the pastor is deep in sin. I fled the church where the pastor was caught in adultery many years ago (he was a serial adulterer, passed from church to church like a bad potluck casserole). I didn’t attend another church when I moved to my current city after I found out that the church was trying to figure out what to do with their adulterous pastor. I mean…you want to get help for the person, but you certainly shouldn’t need a ton of meetings to decide whether or not they should continue in the pulpit. I work in a school where one egregious sin shows you to the door. It’s all clearly spelled out in the handbook. You’ll get your severance and portable benefits, but it will be your last day of teaching-no pleas are heeded. That has happened to 3 people in the 20 years I’ve been here, and I’m grateful that someone is watching out for the kids.

I imagine quite often the wife IS mentally ill, as a result of what the husband as done, and her feeling she has to keep quiet, forgive, pretend everything is fine when it is not.

  8. Michael says:

    Eric,

    Excellent point…

That can particularly be the case if the preacher is the kind who uses forgiveness teaching as a kind of apotropaic magic spell. “You need to forgive so Satan doesn’t control your life”. Heard variations on that one from time to time over the course of my life.
