Things I Think…
1. Advent is eschatology without the nonsense…thus, it is not interesting to those who thrive on nonsense…
2. Advent is also the beginning of the new church year…so happy new year to those who celebrate…
3. Advent is the season of preparation…for the birth of Christ and for his return…every day I’m closer to meeting Him and my own judgment draws close…preparing for that day seems wise to me…
4. This first week of Advent is centered on “hope”…the hope that was manifest in the Incarnation and the hopes that will be fulfilled in the Second Coming…it is wisdom to know where to place our hope…
5. These are the things I like to ponder and meditate on rather than the evil clown show that is currently governing us…few people want to join these discussions…we are slaves to the gross and sensational…
6. If I’m in your checkout line and have more than one item, do not ask me if I want a bag…just bag my stuff. You’ve been warned… 🙂
7. I’ve been busy caring for Liam the Cat who was injured by another animal. It is renewing of the soul to focus on caring for someone other than yourself…and ignoring all the outside noise…
8. Just once I would love to see some scandal sodden “pastor’ decide to move into car sales or multi level marketing instead of defiling the name of Jesus for cash and power…
9. Just once, I’d like to see the supporters of a scandal sodden pastor demand they go into another profession by refusing to support them…
10. It’s on the record that I don’t enjoy the holiday season. This is not a lack of enjoyment as I dislike, say…brussel sprouts. This is a dislike the same as I dislike the massive kidney stones I will have surgically removed in a couple of months…it hurts everyday until they are gone. I haven’t prayed either pain away…

Please wish Liam a speedy recovery…poor guy!
And, I will pray you an endure while you wait for surgery. Not fun!
I think I’ve mentioned here before that I don’t have a liturgical bone in my body (well, maybe a tiny bit), but I love Advent. The anticipation of someone so much bigger than ourselves being willing to come down, take on the form of a baby-the most helpless of creatures-in order to save His own creation. I pray that I never get over the wonder of the incarnation.
Caring for a beloved pet is a balm to the soul.
..praying for a good recovery for Liam!
@ Nr. 9:
If there’s people stoopid enough to fork over their hard-earned greenbacks to these jokers, they deserve each other.
Praying for you and Liam.
I took my Border Collie/Blue Heeler on a hike yesterday, off-leash, and she shed five years easily. Romping and zoomies were abundant.
It didn’t have the same effect on me.
I’m wondering where all the ‘international news’ has gone from the various networks and outlets. It’s like nothing else is happening in the world.
Regarding 8/9–I’d be ok with them all deserving each other and going down the drain simultaneously, but the stench they emit tends to foul the rest of us too. No discernment. Ichabod.
“… it is wisdom to know where to place our hope…”
Now more than ever…
Thanks all for the prayers for my boy Liam and I. It’s been a long week, but it all seems to be working out.
I hope and pray the best for you and Liam, Michael.
Thank you, Robert…he had a pretty good day.
Glad Liam had a pretty good day. How about you, Michael? Keeping you in prayer.
CK,
Thanks!
If Liam is good, I’m good… 🙂
