I just harvested over 19 pounds of Merlot and will pick 20+ pounds of Syrah next week. The grape growing season ends and the winemaking season begins. A lot of work just to make 16-18 bottles every year. But how many people can pour you a glass of excellent wine that was grown in the yard and fermented in the garage?
Linn, I can’t say how it is for teachers, but starting in August and being on a trimester schedule, the kids get two extra week breaks in October (1st Thanksgiving) and February (2nd winter break).

It is??? Forecast calls for 113 degrees here in a couple days.
Terry, that’s cool!!
To all moms out there, Happy Labor Day.
Labor Day used to mean I would just be getting back to school. Now, I’m back the second week of August. Summer has never seemed the same.
I wanna go visit Terry! 😎
Linn,
Here in Georgia, the kiddos go back to school early August. In the heat. HEAT.
Where I come from (Minnesota) schools start the day after Labor Day. Summer in MN is valued that much.
