Holocaust Remembrance Day
The prayer of a child victim of the Holocaust found in Ravensbruck concentration camp…
Lord, remember not only those of good will,
but remember also those who have hurt us, and those who have killed.
Remember the fruit of courage, generosity, the greatness of heart
that has grown from this cruelty.
When all who have hurt us come to be judged by You,
may their forgiveness be found in our company of love.
that kid got it.
some people in this world really tick me off, but as Jesus said “But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.”
Matthew 6:15
This is another reason I believe the Creed — “He will come again to judge the living and dead.” Or, as NT Wright says, everything will be “put to rights.”
Michael,
Thank you for remembering this day. I’m afraid that the farther we get away from the Holocaust, the less concerned we are about all that it entailed. The recent antisemitism on the part of celebrities and sports stars has been of great concern to me.
Linn @ 1:16pm. … AMEN! ! !
I’ve led 8 tours of Israel. Been to Yad Vashem each time. Extremely difficult emotionally. Last time I went, I remained at the exit for a while to watch the faces of those who came out. Didn’t see a dry eye. It’s emotionally exhausting
🕯️
That child’s prayer puts me to shame.
Linn, it concerns me as well. It’s as if these celebrities are saying that Hitler was right all along.
Hoppy, I haven’t had the opportunity to visit Israel, but Yad Vashem would definitely be near the top of my list of places to go while there. (You wouldn’t know by my Scotch-Irish surname, but part of my heritage is Jewish. My maternal grandparents, last name Crystal, were from Russia and Hungary.)
