Pretty much everyone is asking me if this is the end of the world. I remember asking my mother something like that in 1961. Khrushchev and Kennedy locked in nuclear standoff. “Mom are we going to die?” “I don’t know son.” Neither do I, everyone.

Oh the luxury of a weekend off. How many more do we have?

I’ve spent too much time on Daniel and the Revelation…I know it’s going to get much worse before the end.
    So…no, we’re not there yet.

  3. Jean says:

I’ve been thinking about how times change.

2 weeks ago the media, to conservative Christians, was the lame stream media and to some the enemies of the country. This week are people still heaping scorn on the media or is everyone believing everything they see? If so, why the change of heart?

Two weeks ago a lot of conservative Christians were huge defenders of the 1st Amendment and free speech. This week many of these same people are outraged by the free speech of those who are against an invasion of Gaza. Why the change of heart?

Two weeks ago many conservatives thought shutting down the government and gridlock are a good thing. Now these same people are indignant that the house is not back up and running so that money for a foreign country can be given out. Is the country’s debt only a concern when its own citizens are in need?

I don’t get any of this.

    “much worse before the end?”
    could be, could be
Trudeau has already opined that Christians public enemies…….

  5. Michael says:

    Jean,

    Well said.

This is what happens when binary thinkers get caught with a third option…

On another note, Israel may soon move from waging a “just” war to being as murderous as what they are fighting…this is so often the case…

  6. Em says:

    Jean, AMEN ? ? ?

  7. Michael says:

    Em,

My chances of being seen as an enemy that needs destroyed are probably greater with an evangelical than a liberal…

  8. Steven says:

I’m going to do something a bit out of character (for me):

I know you all know very little about me, but ’m asking for prayer from all y’all.

I fear that if i don’t say enough about it, it probably will convey a wrong picture yet writing about it would be the equivalent of a novel.

So I’m simply going to ask anyone to pray who feels like it.

If you feel so moved, I ask you to please pray that I can “let go” of the last two years hurts (yes, from the church…ministry leaders specifically) and finally find a peace and purpose again.

(I’m sure none of the folk involved reflect on these things so it’s pointless for me to do it anymore as well.)

    Thank you

  9. Michael says:

    Steven,

You’ve been thoughtful here and we appreciate that…praying for you now.

  10. Pineapple Head says:

Prayers for you Steve. After 40 years of church ministry, I’ve picked up wounds and developed scars. I wish church could be more of a place of peace and healing. Not always so.

  11. AA says:

    Praying for you Steven.

  12. Captain Kevin says:

    Praying here too, Steven.

  14. Muff Potter says:

There is no such thing as a ‘just war’, all war is hell (Sherman).
Hamas hides their rocket and munitions caches in schools, hospitals, and mosques.
Their (Hamas) avowed goal is the extermination of Jewry in the Levant.
If I were a Jew living in Israel, I would urge my government to do what it has to do to neutralize that threat, the sensibilities of the West be damned.

    Muff, good observation – IMNSHO

  16. Em says:

    Michael @5:11pm – NOT SO ! ! !

  17. Michael says:

    Em,

Evidently you’re not aware of the threats to me family, the death threats, and the threats to do me any harm possible that I’ve received over the last 23 years…all from evangelicals.

  18. Steven says:

Thanks for the prayers. I appreciate your time and hearts.

If, during the course of your prayer lives, you feel so inclined to continue with them, I continue to welcome them.

  19. Dan from Georgia says:

Oh man Micheal…I didn’t realize the extent of the theats to you and your family. Geez, what the F is wrong with some evangelicals!!?!? WIll be in more prayer for your safety as well as your health.

  20. Michael says:

    Steven,

    You’ll have them…

  21. Michael says:

    Dan,

It was common the first 15 years of the site…especially the first 10…

  22. Michael says:

Then there were all the threats of lawsuits…I think half of calvary Chapel threatened to sue me at one time or another.

Things are pretty tame now…they just call me names in their sermons when they’re not stealing my illustrations… 🙂

  23. Captain Kevin says:

“…they just call me names in their sermons when they’re not stealing my illustrations…”

    Ok, that’s funny!!
