Speaking of War. Please keep Ukraine in your prayers. They may well be on the brink of a civil war or at least an overthrow of the government.
My FB page is full of images and stories of the police violently breaking up protests in Kiev.
I’ve been to Ukraine a couple of times and have friends there I think if as family who live in Kiev.
I believe the current government is corrupt and the people will preval. Pray it is with as little bloodshed as possible.

    I didn’t leave the house…
I just checked out that situation from your Facebook page…thank you for the info.

  4. Nope.
Had to go pick up some things late in the day at Walmart, but they were only necessities like food and treats for the dog and cats. Did pick up one thing for my parents while there, but that was only because I saw it, not because I went hunting for it.
    I can’t take large crowds.

  5. Ixtlan says:

We went all the way into the big town late Thursday night. It wasn’t real crowded, not much more than a typical Saturday there. We bought some clothes for our grandkids and daughter-in-law and came home

  6. Jim says:

Only left the house to walk the dog. Didn’t buy anything online, either. We’ve never done the in-store BF thing, but often shop online. This year was able to resist the multiple emails reminding me of all the stuff I need.

A Letter from Pastor Saeed Abedini- Taken from Christian Post article Mar. 22, 2013

  10. Ricky Bobby says:

CC Abuse is blowing up with the Paul Crouch death article. Some are defending him throwing out the “don’t judge” garbage…yet the bible, in its typical dualistic yin/yang form has plenty of verses that tell us to judge, especially those inside the ‘church’. Amazing how bible illiterate and ignorant most evangelicals are…and the more charismatic (in general) the less bible literate and more gullible (no offense to Dread, he and his are rare exceptions).

lxtlain, I love that pic LOL! Sums it all up for me.

  11. Amazing how predatory some people can be about people dying.
    Sad.

  12. Solomon Rodriguez says:

I think Paul Crouch was the predator, he devoured widows houses

  13. Ricky Bobby says:

Lions are predators. Love the taste of wolf.

  14. Scavenger would have been a more apt term.
Like a vulture circling a dead body.
Yep, that would be the picture I get.

  15. I am not defending Crouch, just showing a truism for those that pounce the same day people die.
Time and again it happens. And usually the same people do it again and again.
    They love that carrion.

  16. Ricky Bobby says:

Derek, whatevs. You have created some sort of death etiquette mythology. If you have a personal conviction in that area, then have at it. Personally, I don’t. It’s a great opportunity to address the garbage in TBN and to call it out for being wrong…and as a by-product it raises awareness for the CC Abuse cause and for #FreeSaeed etc. More eyeballs the better.

  17. Yep. oppurtunistic, now you are speaking the truth about motives.
    That fits you too.

  18. And pouncing on Paul Crouch and attaching it to Saeed could do nothing but drive some in the other direction.

  19. Ricky Bobby says:

Opportunistic, well, yes, that’s part of the game of life and taking on Causes. You don’t get 6 million hits on a blog in three years by accident. If you’re a little guy and want to make a dent, you gots to take and make your opportunities.

Disagree on the Saeed thing. I think many who will view the site are not that sympathetic to a Crouch, but very sympathetic to a Saeed.

  20. Ricky Bobby says:

But, I don’t want to argue with idiots and clog a thread so have at it, I’ll go work on the Saeed campaign or something. Knock yourself out.

  21. Erek says:

Its so obvious over the past few years RB has a root of bitterness, which Heb 12:15. states defiles many. Its sin and scripture says its victims who nourish it only get worse. Its sad to see people that are ship wrecked yet they don’t even know it.

  22. Solomon Rodriguez says:

Those Pimps at TBN can kiss my White Ass!

  23. And now the bragging…yawn.
    Boring already.

  24. Well at least RB and “the good jesus of the nt” agree, that Paul Crouch is in heaven,

So it does not matter what people say about Paul C – it only matters what the good jesus of the nt says … and he said”you’re in!!!”

  25. Ricky Bobby says:

Bwahahaha! The “root of bitterness” card. Love it. RAAAAWWWRRRRR! I’m angry and so bitter!!!!

Well, like the other God in the Old Testament and Revelation, I don’t like some stuff, but I don’t want to execute anyone nor do I want to torture them in hell forever.

“The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful; the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies.

I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful rebukes. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon them.

Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.”

  26. RB said – ” It’s a great opportunity to address the garbage in TBN and to call it out for being wrong…and as a by-product it raises awareness for the CC Abuse cause and for #FreeSaeed etc. More eyeballs the better.”

Being a Crouch or being a Saeed it doesn’t matter to the “good jesus of the nt” – they all get equal entrance to heaven … even those torturing Saeed – so why bother getting upset.

  27. I’ll might be wrong, but I’ll bet Paul Crouch never preached polytheism, MLD.
    Unlike some.

Universalism sounds good, till someone you don’t like is brought up.

I wonder, do universalists think that Hitler makes the cut? Oh wait, they have to don’t they.

  28. Night all.

  29. Ricky Bobby says:

Well, if God loves his enemies and is “Love”…then Paul Crouch is probably going to be in whatever is “heaven” and the next consciousness.

  30. Ricky Bobby says:

MLD said, “Being a Crouch or being a Saeed it doesn’t matter to the “good jesus of the nt” – they all get equal entrance to heaven … even those torturing Saeed – so why bother getting upset.”

B/c we have to live with these arseholes while in the earthly existence and as humans we’re driven by some sort of Conscience to promote “good” and fight against “evil” in general and we have some sort of innate sense of justice here on earth.

  31. Ricky Bobby says:

I have one question, WTF did the donkeys of Amalek do to deserve being executed? LOL

  32. RB,
What did the turkey you ate at thanksgiving do to deserve execution?

  33. Ricky Bobby says:

MLD said, “What did the turkey you ate at thanksgiving do to deserve execution?”

    Hunger.

  34. RB,
“and as humans we’re driven by some sort of Conscience to promote “good” and fight against “evil” in general and we have some sort of innate sense of justice here on earth.”

That’s the position taken by those torturing Saeed.

Perhaps there are 9,000 to 30,000 denominations of this Conscience religion you speak of.

  35. Ricky Bobby says:

MLD said, “That’s the position taken by those torturing Saeed.”

Yes, which is why the Enlightenment was so important and why the rise of America and Americanism has been probably the single most important shift in history to promote a better morality and more peaceful world, despite the neocon world police tendencies.

Reason, Conscience and building Consensus has been pivotal in changing the barbaric direction of the world. Iran and hard-core Islam and hardcore Christianity* is the minority and without the checks and balances of stronger Consensus, the world would still be in the Dark Ages and a very barbaric and evil place.

It’s getting better, not worse, which is where the End Times crowd is very wrong. The world is much better today than at any time in human history.

  36. randallslack says:

I joined the Facebook page. Also, I wrote a post at my blog, aputtinginmind.com referencing your work, Michael. I have been praying for Pastor Saeed since his incarceration. May God multiply this work greatly.

  37. Hunger.

You could have eaten an apple. You didn’t need to commission the execution of a turkey.

  38. Ricky Bobby says:

But I don’t like apples for dinner.

MLD, do you like apples? 😉

  39. “Reason, Conscience and building Consensus has been pivotal in changing the barbaric direction of the world”

As we are trying to extend our invasion of the Middle East for another 10 yrs?

You call that a pivotal change away from barbaric behavior????

  40. RB,
it’s not a matter of what we like for dinner – it’s a matter of what is right.

  41. Ricky Bobby says:

  43. brian says:

I am sorry when anyone passes for the family. I posted how in some situations I was treated when I lost a loved one etc. So I won’t post it here. Letting the family grieve was, at times, not an option. I would ask people to look at how some Christian bloggers and online folks dealt with the death of Rick Warren’s son, Hitchens, and other atheists etc. Some were utterly giddy because it gave an apologetic reason.

  44. brian says:

“it’s not a matter of what we like for dinner – it’s a matter of what is right.”

No offense MLD but you dont understand the corporation well it is always about what we like for dinner I E appearance, always let me repeat that always about that. In every single scandal and in every single situation it is always about protecting the status quo. About what is right, lol that is funny it is always about what is effective, efficient and what works. I mean these folks put darwin’s survival of the fittest to shame. They not only eat their young they offer them up on a spit to the nearest deity with power in their pantheon.

How is that for rhetoric? I am a bit rusty in this area.

  45. Jtk says:

No shopping on Thursday, a local Lego store on Friday–my son spent $3 and won a $10 gift card. Ha ha
    Which we promptly spent.

We used to sell hot chocolate to the crowds in line, a small father and son operation; NO WAY we were doing THAT in the early evening on Thanksgiving. That made me a little sad. The joy of a child having an extra $41 from his hard work was amazing…..

  46. Ricky Bobby says:

MLD said, “it’s not a matter of what we like for dinner – it’s a matter of what is right.”

True. It is never “right” to execute/murder all the women, children, infants and animals when you have conquered a people…whether “god” supposedly told you to or not.

  47. PP Vet says:

Went to Lowe’s, Home Depot, Sears, and Costco with the best friend / domestic partner / roommate / girlfriend / co-parent / wife.

Bought a lot of stuff which, to quote our CC pastor, we do not need, cannot afford, and do not have room for.

  48. Ricky Bobby says:

That’s the crux of your error MLD. You are forced to call “wrong” right…if “God told me to do it!”…very cult-like and dangerous.

MLD, do you believe it was “right” or “wrong” to execute/murder/kill all the men, women, children, infants and animals (i.e. genocide) because God supposedly said to do so?

You have said many times that that is the real Jesus you worship and that I have the wrong Jesus. If so, then you have redefined what it is “right” and what is “wrong” depending on what you say God tells people to do. Maybe, then, Jim Jones was told by God to poison all those folks? How do you know it was “wrong”? What if God told him to do it, just like you say God told the Hebrews to commit genocide and it was “right”?

  49. RB,
“if “God told me to do it!”…very cult-like and dangerous.”

I will bet that if God told you to do something, and you knew without a doubt it was the true and living God telling you to do it – you would do it … even if it was with the hope that God would stop you.

  50. Ricky Bobby says:

MLD said, “I will bet that if God told you to do something, and you knew without a doubt it was the true and living God telling you to do it – you would do it … even if it was with the hope that God would stop you.”

Well, the Jesus I believe in wouldn’t tell me to do something evil, as that would make him evil, no?

Your version of Jesus told the Hebrews and others to do many evil and wrong things…and they did them, often.

  51. RB,
The good Jesus of the NT that you always talk about told you to pluck out your eye, and cut off your hand if you couldn’t stop sinning and wanted to get in heaven. I know you have not stopped sinning, so the only way the ‘good jesus’ will accept you is with only one eye or one hand … or no heaven for you with ‘the good jesus’ – how are you doing with that one. Are you preaching that ‘good jesus’ message to your friends?

What about that good jesus who told you to hate your mother and father?? (oh wait, I see you did follow that command) What about the good jesus who said that you have to walk the straight and narrow or you were on the path to destruction? And what is it with the ‘good Jesus’ and all the name calling.

I won’t even bring up the ‘good jesus of the NT who abuses animals – why did the ‘good jesus’ execute all those pigs? Where is this good jesus you keep speaking of ?… he is not in the NT.

  52. How does one decide what is good and what is evil?

  53. Ricky Bobby says:

Josh said, “How does one decide what is good and what is evil?”

And that my friends is the $64,000 times infinity question…and what drives a critical thinker and philosopher to drink (though my one month fast is still in tow, no problem) 🙂

  54. Ricky Bobby says:

Gotta go with Reason, Consensus and most of all Conscience. Can’t be the bible as the bible establishes the fact that it violates Absolute Truth with the big issues like “Good” and “Evil” as exampled by the Amalekite genocide and stoning rebellious children to death etc.

Once it was “good”…and later on it was “evil”…which is the very definition of Relative Truth.

  55. Michael says:

    RB,
Thank you for posting that crap and costing me a long time reader.

  56. Ricky Bobby says:

Just wanted to make Derek feel more intellectually comfortable. So sorry.

  57. Ricky Bobby says:

God of the OT and the Hebrews are kinda of like gangstas. Was seeking a metaphor that a derek could potentially understand since he seems to struggle with my position.

  58. No your answer was a non answer since it still never said where absolute truth came from. It was intellectual horsepucky.
Sort of like your answering videos.

  59. Plus reason and consensus a lot of times lead to exactly what you always decry. Genocide.
Nazis had reason and consensus. Conscience sure didn’t stop them.

    Night all.

  60. J.U. says:

RB, Vulgarity is no substitute for wit.

  61. I am just glad that after all of this time,RB finally states that HIS jesus does not come from the Bible.

Have fun with your made up Jesus RB – the Jesus in the Bible is just too tough for you to handle. Perhaps you should just call your jesus Bill and make the break final … as a man would.

  62. Ricky Bobby says:

Someone needs to tell Pope Francis to stop acting so much like the Good Jesus of the Gospels…he’s making all the other Christians* look bad…

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/on-faith/pope-ramps-up-charity-office-to-be-near-poor-sick/2013/11/29/ac9cd9a6-58d0-11e3-bdbf-097ab2a3dc2b_story.html?tid=auto_complete

  63. Ricky Bobby says:

J.U. said, “RB, Vulgarity is no substitute for wit.”

Agreed, it wasn’t wit, I was trying to find an intellectual equivalent that a derek might grasp: OT God and Hebrews as gangstas. The tribal and territorial and “smite thine enemies” and evil as good if it serves the goals and desires and protection the gang or tribe is a pretty solid comparison.

  64. Ricky Bobby says:

You seem to be offended by “vulgarity”…but not genocide. What if the Holy Spirit told me to be vulgar?

  65. RB,
Why do you keep saying good jesus of the gospels? In your #68 you said ” Can’t be the bible as the bible…”

Everything about Jesus I mentioned in my #55 is from the gospels..

Good pope francis is bringing back indulgences – why would you like a pope who will not free people from purgatory even though he has the power and the authority. How can you respect that guy?

  66. Good Jesus of the gospels says not to judge others … yet you judge the ‘god’ of the OT. Do you hate the good jesus? is that why you judge others?

  67. Ricky Bobby says:

He’s getting the big stuff right, IMO. He’s addressing abuse and corruption and reforming his ranks of such…and he’s speaking to the big Good Jesus issues like helping the poor and needy and ramping up those efforts in his own backyard.

I’m not aware of the indulgences stuff. Do you have evidence of that? If so, what is bad about it in your opinion?

  68. Ricky Bobby says:

MLD said, “Good Jesus of the gospels says not to judge others”

Jesus also said to be perfect and to sin no more.

  69. Ricky Bobby says:

    😉

  70. Well, you don’t obey him there either – so now to satisfy your good jesus you have to poke your eye out and you have to cut off your hand.

Doesn’t sound like a good jesus to me.

  71. When our pope was tweeting with the youth gathering in south america last summer, he told them they would get indulgences if they live tweeted.

Indulgences means that your pope has people locked up in purgatory that he will not just release but makes people here on earth beg for individula indulgences to stop the torture and get their relatives out early – you knw, only 1,000 yrs and not 2,000 yrs.

Why does your pope keep people locked in purgatory?

  72. Ricky Bobby says:

MLD said, “Well, you don’t obey him there either – so now to satisfy your good jesus you have to poke your eye out and you have to cut off your hand.”

Strawman. Never said I had to. Just saying that some resemble the Good Jesus more than others and it seems to be an ideal that Christians* preach, but don’t nearly practice.

  73. Ricky Bobby says:

He’s not my pope, just noting the good ideals he seems to be emulating that resemble the Good Jesus of the Gospels…not that it’ll win him favor in a Quid Pro Quo manner with God or get him into heaven…though that’s what the vast majority of Selective Fundamentalism seems to believe.

  74. Ricky Bobby says:

Derek said, “Plus reason and consensus a lot of times lead to exactly what you always decry. Genocide.”

False. That was consensus without sound reason in a closed system and one Group vs. the rest of the world.

The World’s consensus was that it was wrong and the World united to conquer Hitler and Germany.

  75. Jim says:

Did anyone tell RB today that God is good?

  76. brian says:

You know this Doug Phillips thing is getting really really ugly, I dont know why I really started delving into this, maybe because I know alot of homeschoolers and some of them use part of VF material. I mean these people are very very scary I mean that, very scary and extremely powerful.

  77. Inadvertently RB, still makes part of my point.
Here is the point of why his #58 is just junk.

He uses three subjectives to attempt to show an absolute.

#79 still shows that both his reason and consensus are subjective to time, culture and what not. (Also, we didn’t fight WWII to stop a genocide, most besides a few in leadership didn’t even know that was happening)

The weakest link though is “and most of all Conscience.”
Conscience is the most subjective of them all.
    The Bible even says so.

If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience. But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience—I do not mean your conscience, but his. For why should my liberty be determined by someone else’s conscience? If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks? (1 Corinthians 10:27-30, ESV)

See, two people and two conscience’s.
    Both can’t be right.
One is correct and the other is wrong.
Very subjective and not a good system to base an absolute on.
Elsewhere, in Romans, Paul talks about the “weaker brother”, in effect telling us that someone is right and someone is wrong.
Not something I want to base an absolute system of determining good and evil on.

After all one person’s conscience tells them it is a lump of tissue and to remove it isn’t bad. Another’s tells them that it is a child and it would be murder.

But, hey, you are the one always yelling about how “subjective” we Christians are and then you come up with a system that is “subjective”.

    Josh’s #56 still awaits you.

    Gonna get to work now.

  78. RB shows how dangerous a Google and Wikipedia education can be. Everything RB knows about logic came from the internet.

Watch how he words things as he shouts “I use logic to prove logic!!” Very circular and invalid.

Derek, a couple of days ago when RB was going on about conscience, I brought up the same thing- that we all differ and that hid Conscience (with a capital C as he always uses) religion probably has 9,000 to 30,000 denominations. But I got no reply.

  79. erunner says:

Is this a worthy purchase?? 🙂

    https://www.getswitchblade.com/?MID=3753298

  80. Ricky Bobby says:

MLD, whatevs, not true in the least….but if that works for you in Old Man Delusion Land, then have at it LOL

  81. Ricky Bobby says:

Derek said, “He uses three subjectives to attempt to show an absolute.”

LOL, you have less than no clue. This is hilarious 😆

I try, but then I get caught up in the entertainment value of the ignorance fest, then I make fun b/c you guys start calling names, making accusations etc and you then demonstrate what a low to no grasp of logic and reason you have. It’s quite comical. So I’ll mock you for awhile, too.

  82. Ricky Bobby says:

This is where I usually give you a logic/reason lesson with many posts to support the assertions, all from credible sources on the subject. Then come the calls for banning and the name calling and “hijacker!” etc.

So, I’ll just spare educating you and just mock you. You’re both a couple of idiots who have no clue what you’re talking about.

This is Derek and MLD 😆 :

  83. erunner says:

How does this happen so often? It’s taking away from whatever this blog is seeking to accomplish.

  84. Ricky Bobby says:

E, agreed. MLD and Derek do this often. I simply respond in kind. Equal Scales would be nice. Threaten to ban them. Tell them to stop. etc. Nope. Just me.

  85. Amazed Bob says:

    RB Quotes:

“This is where I usually give you a logic/reason lesson”
“So, I’ll just spare educating you and just mock you””\
“but then I get caught up in the entertainment value of the ignorance fest, ”
“but if that works for you in Old Man Delusion Land”
“I was trying to find an intellectual equivalent that a derek might grasp:”
“Was seeking a metaphor that a derek could potentially understand”
“Just wanted to make Derek feel more intellectually comfortable.”
“WTF did the donkeys of Amalek do to deserve being executed? LOL”
“Bwahahaha! The “root of bitterness” card. Love it. RAAAAWWWRRRRR! I’m angry and so bitter!!!! ”
    “Paul Crouch dead. Good riddance.”
“Lions are predators. Love the taste of wolf.”

    and finally:

But, I don’t want to argue with idiots and clog a thread so have at it,

Wow, all these amazing quotes from a highly intelligent and well versed man?

PS. RB went ahead and clogged the thread.

  86. At lunch
What a laugh and this is why no one responds to you, RB.
You still have enlightened no one to how we know good or evil. Indeed, you can’t even define truth.
Instead, you disparage and change the subject and then take your convenient ever present excuse of “clogging the blog”.
This is your usual tactics when cornered.
I am going to take the advice of many and just ignore your posts. They aren’t worth the arguing.
I would advise others to do the same.
After always ends in you accusing the Lord of genocide. Same old same old from RB.
You don’t even have to bother responding, because I don’t plan on checking this thread again.

  87. Well, this went well.

  88. stu says:

A parting shot on open flogging. This is for my universalist friends, who I care about:

By the way, why hasn’t anyone responded to the verse I posted? Is there not a cause?

  90. Michael says:

    Stu,

I have no idea who Bob is…sorry.
