Prayer & Praise
O for a thousand tongues to sing
our great redeemer’s name;
To sing beyond ourselves, extravagantly,
with abandonment,
beyond our possibilities,
and all our fears,
and all our hopes…
to our redeemer dear, the antidote to death,
the salve to our wounds,
the resolve of our destructiveness…
A thousand, a million, a trillion tongues,
more than our own,
more than our tradition,
more than our theology,
more than our understanding,
tongues around us,
tongues among us,
tongues from our silenced parts.
Tongues from us to you in freedom and in courage,
Finally ceding our lives and our loves to your good care. Amen.

Amber, my daughter is getting married tomorrow evening. I really like her soon-to-be husband, but, of course, there will be myiad of challenges. So, rejoicing and praying–not a bad combination. God has been faithful to her.
Amen, Filbertz and Mrs Filbertz….God be with you and comfort you and guide Amber in this next step of her journey to adulthood. Love you guys! Miss you!!
My sweet friend Shawna (36) is in her last earthly days, surrounded by family, friends and hospice angels and will enter eternity on a carpet of thousands of prayers. Dear Lord, comfort her, her dear husband and children…and give Your Grace to all those who prayed for a different outcome and answer. Let us accept Your Ways when they are different than our desires and hopes…..
Now, may the God of All Hope give you joy and peace as you trust in Him, and that you will abound in hope by the strength of the Holy Spirit. Rom 15:13.
To God alone, be the Glory for now and forever more. amen
fil, praying for Amber, her soon-to-be husband, you and the mrs.
paigemom, that was beautiful! Praying for Shawna and her family.
Filbertz. Congrats! That is awesome. I remember the days when Eric the Swede went to try to intervene in her situation on your behalf. Challenges in a covenant are the good kind. 🙂
Rejoicing and praying.
Im pretty sure he’s Norwegian not Swede.
Rejoicing with you Fil! God bless Amber and her husband.
Paige, that was a beautiful prayer for your friend. Amen and amen.
Would you all please continue to pray for our baby Bennet who is scheduled to have his 2nd open heart surgery in Jan. He needs to gain weight and be strong enough for the surgery. If he survives this surgery, his prognosis improves greatly. I had the most wonderful time getting to visit him and hold him. We smiled and cooed at one another. He is a beautiful little baby and I am so proud of his mama and daddy and the care they are giving him. Thank you for praying.
Waking this morning back at home after a great vacation…back to routine and prayer and “regular” life. Praying for Fil’s daughter and for his new son-in-law…that he will be a man who navigates the challenges with wisdom and patience and strength and a man who loves Amber well and is used by God to bring healing and peace and joy.
Praying along with Paige’s prayer for her friend Shawna…mercy, Lord.
Praying for baby Bennet this morning that he will gain the needed weight and strength. So thankful for how well he has done to this point!
Fill … rejoicing & praying with you!
Paigemom … keeping your friend & family in prayer …
Asking for prayer again for the east coast … specifically … it’s going to go below freezing tonight & looks more & more likely that the nor-easter will hit the already badly damaged areas on wed. It’s been really cold here as people try to clean up. An enormous amount of people are still without power … there’s a shortage of gas … & FEMA ran out of water as of last week … lots & lots of hardship. Thankfully many volunteer organizations are doing an incredible job … even churches are putting aside differences to work together … imagine that! Cool to see … & lots & lots of neighbor helping neighbor … but people are cold & overwhelmed … even getting sick from the contaminated debris. Lots of very tired stressed & cold people here. Prayer really appreciated …

My father in law is out of the hospital and back at home. He’s still on oxygen, though. The clots in his lungs are quite large and will take several months to break apart. He’s doing as well as could be expected under the circumstances, and there’s no reason to believe he won’t recover, but, honestly (and I say this as someone who does not generally get overly worried about health issues), I’m still concerned about him.
nancy…continuing to pray.
j2…praying. I imagine that is really painful as well. Praying for rapid recovery and for peace.
You’re right, it is fairly painful. He hasn’t complained about it that much, but it does hurt him.
The wedding was a sweet, honest, fun, real, celebration of reconciliation, relationship, and faithfulness. Many friends who stood with Amber through all those trials and tragedies stood with her as she committed herself in marriage. Lots of joy in town tonight.
Philly, please tell your beautiful girl I am so happy for her 🙂
Congratulations Flip!!
So happy for your family, Fil!!!
phone interview in 10 minutes
Praying now, jlo.
i think that went well, should have a call back by friday for additional in person interviews.
Will keep praying!
Awesome! Praying the call comes quickly.
I am not sure I updated here about baby Ted. His test results all came back normal and his little body is producing the blood it needs. No more anemia…no more scare of cancer. So thankful.
Also…Steve’s mom had a pacemaker put in today. She has made it through the surgery well and is in recovery…prayers for this to be a blessing and not a frustration as she moves forward.
Nor-easter hitting today … bringing snow along with rain & high winds. Not a huge storm … but terrible timing … continued prayer appreciated …
Praying, Nancy
Thanks Sarah … I think most of the coast is going to get through this latest storm without too much additional struggle … not too bad so far … just discouraging when people are already pushed to such limits …
Well … more snow than expected … some more flooding … some more power outages … & more disappointments in those who’s job it is to be there to help … BUT … the weather is about to warm up … YAY! Hopefully things will brighten up a bit soon … warmer weather should help bunches. Thanks for praying!
Nancy…I’m glad that it wasn’t worse, but I’m sure anything is fairly significant at this point! Praying that you all are able to dry out a bit.
I could use some prayer today. Nothing bad, just tired from traveling and staying up too late, combined with the newness of a different job and trying to see if and where I fit in to the physical part of “web church” is wearing on me.
Trying to nip in bud before I go too far down the road.
Thanks
going out for a prayer walk.
